Northwest Workforce Council

The Council is a 19 member board responsible for governance and oversight of the workforce development system in Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom counties. Authorized under the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), the Council convenes private and public sectors to address workforce development issues.

HOW WE SERVE

Advocating for Regional Workforce Needs

The Council identifies current and future workforce trends, needs and priorities, and works with stakeholders and constituencies to execute priority initiatives. The Council is the regional advocate for efforts to identify sector-specific strategies that better align education, economic and workforce development initiatives.

Businesses

We help businesses find new staff, develop the skills of current staff, and support continued employment.

Job Seekers

We provide free customized job search coaching, and career planning and training services that help individuals find a job or advance in their careers.

Our Partners

We partner with local business, education, labor, and community organizations to develop a unified workforce strategy and improve access to employment and training services.

Our Leadership

The Council, in partnership with local elected officials, supports the state’s strategic workforce plan while addressing local issues and economic development.
